Dan Azeez puts British light-heavyweight title on line against Shakan Pitters

Lewisham light-heavyweight Dan Azeez is set to defend his British title on Saturday night against Shakan Pitters at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

The 33-year-old South Londoner won the belt in impressive fashion – a seventh-round stoppage of Hosea Burton in November.

Azeez is 16-0 in the paid ranks and will look to inflict a second loss on Birmingham’s Pitters, who was halted in nine rounds by Crystal Palace’s Craig Richards when he last challenged for the domestic crown.

“I’m not the biggest light-heavy but I’ve got a big heart and a big will – my drive to win is second to none,” said Azeez. “This win over Shakan just gives me that projection after winning the British title, it just solidifies me.

“You’re not a true champion unless you defend what is yours.”
