Diallang Jaiyesimi delighted with Charlton win – and his first goal of the 2021-22 League One season

Diallang Jaiyesimi admitted that he put in one of his best performances in a Charlton Athletic shirt in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Crewe.

The winger headed home Chris Gunter’s cross to put the Addicks on their way to victory with Jayden Stockley adding a second as the South London side chalked up a first League One win of the 2021-22 campaign.

Asked by Charlton TV if it was his best display for the South Londoners, Jaiyesimi told Charlton TV: “I think so. It’s up there, because I got the goal to show for it.

“It feels good to get off the mark with that first win, hopefully we can keep this momentum going into the cup game on Tuesday.

“It was a good header. Everybody was banging on at me to get to the back post when the crosses come in. I got there and I headed it. I need to get in those positions to score goals, that’s what I need to add to my game.

“The plan was to stick to what we’ve been doing. We’ve been playing well in some games but just not coming away with the victory. The plan was to keep it going and the goals will come on. We showed that today [Saturday] – we can put the ball in the net.”
