Dons head coach Mark Robinson on game plan at Lincoln

Mark Robinson gave an insight into AFC Wimbledon’s game plan after they drew 0-0 with Lincoln City at LNER stadium.

The result means the Dons finish the season in 19th place.

Speaking to AFC Wimbledon’s club website, head coach Robinson said: “We didn’t start well very well in the first five minutes but we grew into the game.

“In the first half after the first 15 minutes we were excellent, our only real problems were restarts. That was the only time they really opened us up.

“In open play, we were very good off the ball and very good on it. But you need to score. That little bit of decision making is what was lacking first half.

“We started the second half excellently in the first 15 and then they changed things a little bit, they got their full-backs higher and we tried to nullify that, but it didn’t work.

“The message today was to keep the intensity high, but we also want to show that we can keep the ball at times as well. At times we did that really well and other times we became a little bit passive on the ball.

“In 21 games to have only lost six is a good return, but if you look back at those games we could have picked up even more points, there has been draws that we could have won.

“Nik Tzanev pulled off a couple of really good saves when we needed him. Nik’s been excellent.

“Paul Kalambayi did really well, the great thing is you know there is more to come because he is not match fit. He’ll be even sharper and even better.”
