Ex-Crystal Palace manager set to take over Championship side

Former Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock is set to be appointed as Huddersfield Town manager until the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 74-year-old stepped away from football last season after being sacked by Middlesbrough in November 2021.

The Terriers, 23rd in the Championship, sacked Mark Fotheringham after just 21 games in charge of the side.

Warnock, who has also managed Sheffield United, Leeds, Cardiff and QPR during his long managerial career, took charge of the Eagles for 146 games across two spells at Selhurst Park.

He has managed 16 separate clubs. Warnock’s deal at Kirklees Stadium will run until the end of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports after announcing his retirement last season, Warnock said: “I’ve had a good run really. I’m enjoying things I’ve not done for years, I’m having a lot of time with the family, my dogs and I’ve taken up cycling too.

“I’m not saying the enthusiasm’s gone, I’ve not lost that, but when I see some of my friends who are struggling health-wise, there comes a time where you have to let your family enjoy a little bit more of your time, in particular my wife Sharon.”
