Exclusive: Millwall striker Matt Smith set for Salford City transfer

Millwall striker Matt Smith is in advanced talks to join Salford City.

The Lions frontman is out of contract at the end of this season.

Smith’s family are from the Manchester area – with his partner also expecting their baby – and Millwall have been respectful of his excellent service since he joined from QPR in July 2019.

The former Fulham and Leeds forward has scored 21 goals in 102 appearances for Millwall.

But he has dropped down the pecking order this season, making just six starts.

Millwall could be set to also see Jon Dadi Bodvarsson head out the exit door as negotiations with Bolton Wanderers have progressed at the start of this week.
