‘Fingers crossed’ – Charlton captain hoping for Millwall cup draw after pre-season clash

Charlton captain George Dobson is hoping his side draw Millwall in one of the cup competitions this season after Tuesday night’s 2-2 pre-season draw at The Den.

The two sides have not met competitively since July 2020, after Charlton were relegated to League One.

Millwall are unbeaten against Charlton since March 1996.

A crowd of 7134 – 1510 Charlton fans – turned up to The Den on Tuesday to watch the pre-season friendly.

“It would be amazing,” Dobson told the South London Press of potentially playing Millwall in the cup competitions this upcoming season.

“We were saying that before the game.

“With two stands, imagine it’s full and under the lights – a cup game would be brilliant.

“Fingers crossed we can pull them in the cup – it would be a great occasion for both sets of fans.”

Charlton are unbeaten in pre-season and went 2-0 up against Gary Rowett’s side before goals from Kevin Nisbet and Aidomo Emakhu brought the scoreline level,

“For the first 60 minutes, to play the way we did and dominate the game against a Championship side was really encouraging,” added Dobson.

“I’m optimistic at where we are at the minute.”
