Former Charlton boss ‘turns down’ League One job

Former Charlton Athletic manager Karl Robinson has reportedly turned down the opportunity to be the new head coach of League One side Reading, according to the Mirror.

Robinson, who was Sam Allardyce’s assistant at Leeds United for the final four games of the Premier League season as the Whites were relegated to the Championship, has been out of work as a manager since leaving Oxford in February.

The 42-year-old took charge of Charlton between November 2016 to March 2018, managing 74 games in all competitions.

Reading – relegated from the Championship last season – have recently been charged with multiple breaches of EFL regulations and look likely to be hit with a points deduction.

Former Sheffield United and Watford boss Chris Wilder looked set to take over at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, but the move collapsed.

Robinson has also managed Milton Keynes during his career.
