Former Charlton goalkeeper makes League One transfer

Ex-Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Joe Wollacott has joined League One rivals Crawley Town.

The Addicks sold Wollacott to Scottish side Hibernian last summer, but he has returned to English football just one campaign north of the border.

He made just eight appearances in an injury-hit season for the Scottish Premiership side.

Wollacott joined Charlton from Bristol City in 2022, making 20 appearances for the South Londoners.

The 27-year-old told Crawley’s website: “I am delighted to get the deal over the line. It was a quick turnaround, so I am very happy it was done quickly.

“Unfortunately, last season did not work out for me, so I was looking for a solution.

“I know [manager] Scott [Lindsey] well from my time at Swindon, and I really enjoyed working with him, so this seemed like a great fit.

“He gave a lot of information on how he wants the team to play, but also on how he wants me to play, so hopefully we can continue to work well together.”
