Former Crystal Palace coach brought in by Charlton Athletic

Curtis Fleming has been appointed assistant head coach at Charlton Athletic.

The 55-year-old acted in a similar role at both Crystal Palace and Bolton Wanderers, working underneath Dougie Freedman at both.

Fleming also had a spell most recently as assistant manager at Bristol City.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m very, very happy to be given the opportunity.

“My conversations with Michael Appleton and Andy Scott were really positive. The plans for the club, both short-term and long-term, are exciting and I really wanted to be part of that.”

Charlton head coach Michael Appleton said: “Curtis will bring loads of experience to the club. It was important to try and get the right balance in terms of personnel and characters in the group.

“He’s worked under Nigel Pearson, who is someone I respect and have worked with before at West Brom, and Nigel speaks very highly of him. He’s well-respected and his experience will benefit the group.”
