Former Crystal Palace youngster makes Bromley transfer

Former Crystal Palace youngster Sam Woods has joined Bromley on a free transfer after leaving National League rivals Barnet.

The 24-year-old becomes Andy Woodman’s first recruit of the 2023-24 summer transfer window after the Ravens were knocked out in the play-off semi-finals to Chesterfield last season.

Woods progressed through Palace’s academy and made four first-team appearances for the Eagles.

He made his debut in a 1-0 defeat in the fourth round of the EFL Cup away at Middlesbrough under Roy Hodgson in 2018, replacing Pape Souare for the final 11 minutes. His first start came in the EFL Cup second-round defeat to Colchester in 2019.

Woods had loan spells at Plymouth and Hamilton Academical before leaving to join Barnet permanently following his release from Palace in 2021.

The Bromley-born midfielder made 41 appearances at Barnet before leaving this summer to sign at Hayes Lane.
