Fulham boss Silva: Bournemouth deserved to win – we didn’t create enough

Fulham boss Marco Silva conceded that his side deserved their 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Justin Kluivert opened the scoring for the Cherries before half-time when Alex Scott played through the former Roma winger inside the area to finish underneath Bernd Leno.

Dominic Solanke doubled Bournemouth’s lead in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot and Luis Sinisterra rounded off the scoring when he unleashed an effort from the edge of the box into the top right-hand corner.

“Bournemouth won and they deserved to win – we have to say that,” Silva told Amazon Prime.

“We didn’t deserve anything from the game when you concede the goals the way we did. The first half was really balanced – both teams were in the game. They had their chances but we had our chances as well.

“They scored before half-time and made it difficult for us. We wanted to react in the second half but we didn’t create enough.”

Fulham will have striker Raul Jimenez available for their New Year’s Eve home game against Arsenal after he completed his three-game suspension.

Brazilian attacker Willian missed the trip to the South Coast with a hamstring injury.

“We didn’t play with two players who have been key for us,” said Silva. “But when these types of things happen, others have to step in and show their quality – it was not the case at all. Now it’s time for us to really analyse this game and realise things are going to be much more difficult for us if we play this way.”
