Fulham veteran directs praise at Marco Silva for better start to life in Premier League

Tim Ream has directed praise for Fulham’s solid start to the Premier League to manager Marco Silva and his backroom team.

The Whites have collected eight points from their opening six matches.

At the same stage of their 2020-21 campaign in the top flight they had just one point on the board and had a minus-nine goal difference.

American centre-back Ream, a veteran of 262 matches for Fulham, told the club’s TV channel: “We are not completely satisfied where we are, we feel we’ve had some games we could’ve picked up some more points. But, overall, eight [points] from six [matches] going into a game against Forest, we can’t be too unhappy.

“[The better start] is down to the manager and his staff – the way they push us constantly to improve and keep standards high. But they also make sure confidence is high at all times. All credit to them for the start and credit to the players as well, we’re buying into everything they are asking.

“They are pushing us to give our maximum every time.”

Fulham head to Forest tonight in a clash of two of the clubs promoted from the Championship. A victory could lift them as high as sixth.

The match was moved to avoid clashing with Trent Bridge’s hosting of cricket’s One-Day Cup tomorrow.

And Ream reckons that the west London club can use the noise of the home support at the City Ground in his side’s favour.

“We approach every match the same way – to go and get three points. We try to get on top early, the way a lot of fans are when you go to those places they can turn quickly if you have a good start.

“We like to use that to our advantage, start quick, as evidenced in the first six games. We’ll try to use that crowd against them.”
