James Meredith and Tim Cahill have been called up to Australia’s provisional squad for friendlies later this month.
New Socceroos boss Bert van Marwijk has picked a 29-man preliminary squad for the matches against Norway in Oslo and an encounter with Colombia at Fulham’s Craven Cottage.
Striker Cahill signed for Millwall in January, hoping his switch to South London on a deal until the end of the season would boost his prospects of making their World Cup squad.
Left-back Meredith has started every Championship match this season for the Lions.
He has been capped twice before but had not featured for Australia since 2015. He signed for Millwall on a free transfer after leaving Bradford City in the summer, citing his international hopes as a reason for penning a Den deal.
