‘I now know what it means to be a Millwall player’ – Casper De Norre on his strong second season at Den outfit

Casper De Norre has expressed his happiness at his Millwall campaign – with the Belgian midfielder having featured in every single match this season.

The 28-year-old is in his second season with the South London club.

De Norre has started 39 of the Lions’ Championship matches and has 46 appearances in total – including four goals and four assists.

De Norre told the South London Press: “I’m really pleased to have featured in all of the games and except for three or four I have started them all – I’m really pleased with that.

“Also my level this season has gone up. Last year I had to get adapted to the Championship because it is still a little bit different than Belgium. This season I also really knew what it meant to be a Millwall player and what I needed to do in the midfield, combine that with the qualities I already had.

“The season itself has been an emotional rollercoaster. We started off not so good, then we had a good run, then when Neil (Harris) left it was a little bit like ‘what is going to happen now?’. It took a while before we had a new manager and he has to get new ideas in. We had so many games from the start of January that there wasn’t really time to get those ideas in even though we tried to do it. When you start getting results and wins it is really nice.

“After the Cardiff game, when we drew in the last minute, you could feel: ‘Ooof’. We had Luton and Portsmouth away and that was a crucial point of the season – we needed to get those wins to open a nice little gap, push on from there.

“On a personal level, I’ve been happy with my season. I felt I had a dip around Christmas, maybe that is also normal because I had been used to a winter break (in Belgium).

“I think since the new manager came in I have gone to a new level again because there was a little more clarity. And how I see football and how I want to play football was a bit more about what we are doing now. That also helps.”
