Injury update on Jake Forster-Caskey – with Akin Famewo set for Charlton bench role at Fleetwood
Jake Forster-Caskey will miss Charlton’s trip to Fleetwood Town this weekend – but there is better news on Conor Washington and Akin Famewo.
Midfielder Forster-Caskey came off in the first half of the Addicks’ 3-2 loss to Gillingham last Saturday. The former Brighton and MK man went for a scan at the start of the week.
“Jake has got a slight hamstring – he shouldn’t be too long,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “But Conor will be back around us, and so is Akin.
“Akin played almost 70 minutes for the U23s again on Monday and came through okay. I think it’s too early for him to start but he’ll probably be on the bench. He is not far away.”
Chuks Aneke is suspended after his red card against the Gills.
“That’s the game,” said Bowyer. “Sometimes you lose players. It is something we can’t control. I thought it was a harsh sending off. But we’ve got three strikers that will have to step up. Jayden [Stockley] scored again at the weekend and that was good for him. Hopefully he can go again.”
