‘Insulting’ – Gillingham boss slams Charlton’s bid for Kyle Dempsey
Gillingham manager Steve Evans has described Charlton’s bid for Kyle Dempsey as “nonsense” – claiming the South London club offered £100,000 for the midfielder.
The South London Press had been told at the end of last week that the Addicks had shown an interest in the 25-year-old but that a deal was highly unlikely to happen.
Evans told Kent Online: “Dempsey is not leaving.
“That [Charlton’s bid] was insulting, it was £100,000. Even with £200,000 they would get laughed out.
“You just wonder sometimes if that was just to upset the player. That was done to us before the game [against Charlton] was cancelled. Come on Charlton, behave yourselves. Nonsense.
“They can come back in if they like but they are not getting him. You don’t insult someone one minute and then be alright with them the next do you?
“Kyle is a valuable part of what we are trying to achieve here.”
