It’s not the romance of the FA Cup…but Charlton boss Ben Garner happy to be at Valley for FA Cup tie against Coalville Town

An away draw at non-league opposition may be what the FA Cup is all about, but Charlton Athletic manager Ben Garner is happy their first round tie against Coalville Town is at The Valley.

The Addicks were paired with the Southern League Premier Division Central side in Monday’s draw.

Coalville head to SE7 on November 5.

“It’s great to be at home,” said Garner. “It’s a great draw for Coalville, an opportunity to come to a big League One club and test themselves. It’s the magic of the FA Cup.

“We give them full respect. We’ll prepare exactly the same way we do every game, because we want to get to round two and then hopefully round three – hopefully we get what we see as a big tie for us. That’s the aim.”
