Jake Cooper hails ‘remarkable’ job Neil Harris has done as Millwall motor into Championship play-off zone
Jake Cooper has described the job that Neil Harris has done since returning to Millwall as “remarkable”.
The Lions have taken the most points in the Championship – 48 – since the club’s all-time record goalscorer replaced Joe Edwards as head coach in late February.
Millwall have kept four clean sheets in a row, the latest in last night’s 1-0 win over Leeds as they climbed to fifth in the table.
Since the start of last season the Lions have won by a 1-0 scoreline 14 times – easily the most times of any club in the second tier.
Cooper headed the winner in their single goal success over Burnley on Sunday and then provided the assist for Japhet Tanganga’s right-footed finish against Leeds.
Millwall are top of the form guide for the last eight matches and are unbeaten in six games.
Asked about if there is anything extra that has sparked their run, Cooper told Millwall TV: “It is confidence, momentum and belief – we have certainly got that.
“The gaffer brings a lot of that – his record since he came to the club speaks for itself. The way he has galvanised the squad is remarkable really. We love playing and working for him. It’s enjoyable – we’re winning games and loving football at the moment.
“You can’t beat nights like that (the Leeds game) at The Den. The fans have been amazing and it’s been a really good week. It’s lovely to get those clean sheets. We feel really solid as a whole team and the defenders are chipping in with goals now. It’s coming together nicely.
“It has been coming for Japh – a few balls had been landing at his feet in the box. He took it really well. We’re happy to contribute at that end of the pitch.”
