Kevin Nisbet bags hat-trick as Millwall beat League Two side Sutton United 3-0

Millwall beat League Two side Sutton United 3-0 at Gander Green Lane on Tuesday evening thanks to a hat-trick from Kevin Nisbet.

This was Millwall’s second pre-season win of the day after a side, which included Andreas Voglsammer, Aidomo Emakhu, Tom Bradshaw and Zian Flemming, beat Brentford B 5-0 at Calmont Road in the afternoon.

The Lions went close to opening the scoring early on when Romain Esse flicked the ball over an onrushing Sutton player, and Duncan Watmore drove forward. Billy Mitchell collected a pass on the edge of the box but curled a shot just beyond Jack Rose.

Gary Rowett’s side eventually took the lead in the 25th minute when summer signing Kevin Nisbet collected a pass on the edge of the box, turned, and fired a shot beyond Jack Rose.

George Saville went close for the Lions in the 55th minute – blazing a shot from distance over the Sutton keeper’s crossbar.

George Long then produced a smart reaction stop to deny a mix-up at the back leading to a clearance ricocheting into his own net.

Kevin Nisbet doubled Millwall’s lead midway through the second half when Esse was brought down inside the penalty area – the Scottish forward sending Rose the wrong way.

The 26-year-old scored his hat-trick with a sweetly struck free-kick beyond substitute keeper Steve Arnold in the 75th minute.
