Leeds United tracking AFC Wimbledon forward
Championship side Leeds United have been keeping tabs on AFC Wimbledon forward Ali Al-Hamadi, the South London Press understands.
The 21-year-old has recorded nine goal contributions – four goals and five assists – this season for the Dons. He scored his first EFL hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Tranmere at the end of September.
Al-Hamadi has scored 14 goals and picked up six assists in 33 appearances since joining on a free transfer from Wycombe Wanderers last January.
The Chairboys retain a sell-on clause in any fee that Wimbledon receive for the Iraqi international.
Al-Hamadi is set to miss a chunk of January with Iraq taking part in the Asia Cup in Qatar, which starts on January 12.
The Dons turned down bids from Barnsley and Peterborough for the striker in the summer window.
Al-Hamadi has also been linked with a move to Sunderland in recent weeks.
Wimbledon want a club-record fee of their phoenix era – which would mean exceeding the £1.2million they received from Qatari side Al-Wakrah last winter for Ayoub Assal – if they were to part ways with Al-Hamadi.
The striker will have 18 months to run on his contract at the start of January.
