Lyle Taylor steps up his return from knee injury – Charlton boss outlines timescale for a return

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton striker Lyle Taylor is out of his knee brace – with manager Lee Bowyer admitting the hope is that he could be back in the squad in the next couple of weeks.

The frontman, the subject of multiple bids from Brentford at the end of the summer transfer window, suffered ligament damage while on international duty with Montserrat.

But Taylor tweeted earlier this week that he had been given permission to get back outside training.

Bowyer said: “It is beginners’ level – just jogging.

“We are trying to build him up slowly. Hopefully in a couple of weeks he might be in and around the squad.

“We’ll have to take it easy with him in the beginning and then try and push him a bit harder as we go along.”
