Millwall manager Gary Rowett has been left impressed by Steve Cooper’s work at Swansea City.

The Lions, without a victory on the road this season, head to South Wales on Saturday.

Cooper was appointed the Swans’ head coach in June.

City are fourth in the table.

Rowett said: “Steve Cooper has done a really good job. He’s taken on that Swansea brand of football and put his own stamp on it and had a really, really effective start to the season.

“I chatted to him [Cooper] when I went down to do one of the Sky games and he seems a really good guy. I’ve been quite impressed so far.

“You know what you’re going to play against when you go over there. They are a very good footballing side that move the ball very well – they try to drag you out of areas and exploit the space behind the midfielders and in front of your back four.

“There’s always challenges playing against a side like that. What we have to do is go and cause them problems, like a few teams have in their recent home games. Their home form hasn’t been as good of late. It’s something we have to look at but we want to improve our away form.

“We’re really viewing it as that we’ve had one away game but ultimately the players have had a whole season and we’ve not managed to win one.

“That’s a challenge. You’ve got to improve those away points if we want to get where we want to get to in the league. It’s a great challenge.
