Millwall boss provides injury update for Norwich City game + backs attackers to start converting their chances

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Millwall manager Gary Rowett reckons it is only a matter of time before his attacking players start finishing off their chances.

Kenneth Zohore had two big opportunities in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Cardiff City.

The on-loan West Brom striker airkicked a Jed Wallace cross in the first half and then saw keeper Alex Smithies just manage to get a touch when he was played into the box by Maikel Kieftenbeld after the restart.

Rowett said: “If you look at his reaction after both chances he put his head in his hands and shakes his head.

“The first one is not an easy chance, but it is a really good chance. I know what Ken is capable of and I’d expect a player like Ken Zohore to be more than capable of scoring that. He knows that.

“The second one is a good save but again I think Ken expects himself to score. He has got high expectations of himself and has proven it previously.

“I could list how many chance we have had in the last six or seven games. Ultimately as a manager you are trying to get players into those positions and then you hope they show that quality.

“If we weren’t creating anything I’d be concerned – but we are. It is a matter of time before we start taking those chances.”

The Lions are at home to Norwich City tomorrow.

“From an energy perspective you are probably looking at freshening things up because we have been unchanged in our last two matches,” said Rowett.

“That will be the real decision.

“The likes of Ken have got through 90 minutes, so we’ll see how he feels today. He hasn’t played too many 90-minute games.

“Thommo [Ben Thompson] took a whack to the head [at Cardiff] but it is just a little cut – no concussion.

“Everyone else is fine.”
