Millwall bow out of FA Youth Cup after seven-goal semi final thriller at Leeds

Millwall U18’s side exited the FA Youth Cup at the semi-final stage on Thursday night after a 4-3 loss at Leeds United.

The Lions took the lead after 18 minutes when striker Kavali Heywood headed home Frankie Maciocia’s cross.

Rhys Chadwick levelled for the Whites in front of a crowd of over 10,000 from the penalty spot, with Charlie Crew giving Leeds the lead before half-time.

Millwall skipper Joshua Stephenson brought his side back into the game when he bundled the ball past Leeds stopper Rory Mahady in the 54th minute.

But the scoreline would stay level for just four minutes as Adedapo Olugbodi’s shot deflected off George Beaumont past Arthur Penney to put Leeds back ahead.

Millwall quickly brought the game level again as Beaumont made amends for his own goal – firing a shot into the roof of the net two minutes later.

Category One academy Leeds booked their place in the final in the 71st minute when Harvey Whiteman turned a corner into his own net as the seventh goal of the evening was scored at Elland Road.
