Millwall captain Craig could still be a January transfer window mover
Millwall captain Tony Craig remains a potential mover before the January transfer window closes – but manager Neil Harris is not keen on loan exits for senior members of his squad.
Southend United were credited with an interest in the Lions skipper before parting company with boss Phil Brown.
And Fleetwood Town are also believed to be admirers of Craig, who is out of contract in the summer.
Harris has previously stated he wants the experienced defender to stay at The Den but his game-time has been limited this season and Millwall have boosted their centre-back options with the loan signing of Derby’s Jason Shackell today.
The Lions boss said: “I don’t want to let anyone out on loan. If someone is that desperate to go it is down to them to try and force the issue.
“I support my players as much as I can, as I always have done, to get the outcome they need.
“You’ve always got to be mindful that someone might want to go out in search of more football. We’ll cross that bridge as we go.
“We have injuries to Aiden O’Brien and Byron Webster, there is just an outside chance of him being back in the first-team fold before the end of the season. We’ve got to make sure we have got strength in depth. It’s not just about bodies – it is experience as well within the group.”
