Millwall confirm loan signing of Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga

Millwall have confirmed the loan signing of Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga.

Our website revealed that the Lions were set to make the 24-year-old centre-back their first signing of the January transfer window.

And the Championship side announced his addition this afternoon.

Tanganga is eligible to feature in Saturday’s derby at QPR, subject to international clearance.

Millwall head coach Joe Edwards has previously worked with the London-born defender when England won the Toulon Tournament in 2017. Edwards was part of the coaching team.

Augsburg signed Tanganga at the end of the summer transfer window with the Bundesliga outfit also having an option to make the deal permanent.

But he did not make an appearance before his stay was cut short this month.

Millwall have moved quickly to secure his services. Tanganga has made 50 first-team appearances for Tottenham – including in the Champions League and Europa League.
