Millwall v Ipswich Town: Two changes for Lions as Jed Wallace misses out and James Meredith is benched

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Millwall manager Neil Harris has made two changes for today’s home game against Ipswich Town – with Shaun Hutchinson and Jiri Skalak both starting.

Hutchinson replaces James Meredith, who drops to the bench. That makes it likely that Murray Wallace will play left-back.

Jed Wallace’s omission looks injury-related as he does not even make the matchday 18.

Skalak has been an unused substitute for the last three games, his last start being the 2-2 draw against Forest at the start of this month.

The Lions are hunting a third straight win at The Den. Their home form is critically important with only two points collected away.

Ipswich are under new management – with Paul Lambert appointed after Paul Hurst lasted just five months in the Portman Road hotseat.

But the Scot is expected to watch from the stands as caretaker Bryan Klug takes the Tractor Boys.

It is the second time in recent weeks that Millwall have squared up to a temporary boss. Kevin MacDonald stepped in for Aston Villa after Steve Bruce was sacked.

Ipswich are bottom of the Championship table and have won just once in their 14 league matches. Only Rotherham (10) have netted less goals than Town on 11 goals netted – only matched by Hull City and Bolton Wanderers.

Ipswich’s one victory did come on the road, a 3-2 victory over Swansea City at the start of this month.
