Millwall’s injury list increases – but Troy Parrott’s return is a positive development for Den chief Rowett

Millwall manager Gary Rowett felt that Troy Parrott’s Championship bow was a positive on an afternoon where the club’s injury absences were increased.

The Lions drew 1-1 with Cardiff at The Den today with Mason Bennett forced off with a problem in the second period.

But Tottenham loanee Parrott, who had played just 45 minutes for the South London club this season due to a quad injury and then ankle ligament damage, came on in the 76th minute.

Right-back Mahlon Romeo and Connor Mahoney were also ruled out due to injury.

Rowett said: “You can add those to Billy Mitchell, beacuse it looks like he has pulled his hamstring again and is out for a decent period.

“Mahlon got trod on the foot, scan results came back so he was ruled out for today’s game.

“We were doing a set-piece in training yesterday and Connor Mahoney’s pulled his quad taking a corner – a really innocuous one but went down as though it was pretty serious. He would’ve started today.

“Mason coming off just leaves you another attacking player short.

“It was good to get Troy out there – even just for 20 minutes, regardless of how he did or what he did. Just so that he got a little feel of the Championship. You could see the intelligence in the runs he makes, but it might take him a little bit of time to effect games for us.

“Some of the other players are going to have to step up and give us that quality – because it’s probably just what we’re lacking at the moment.”
