Neil Harris confirms Millwall record signing is set to be sidelined for up to two months – with Tom Bradshaw also out for 10 weeks
Neil Harris has revealed that Millwall record signing Mihailo Ivanovic is set to be sidelined for up to two months with a broken metatarsal.
The 19-year-old joined on deadline day from Serbian top-flight side Vojvodina for a club record fee which is in excess of £2.5million.
Ivanovic was unveiled to the Millwall fans at The Den as they beat Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Harris also confirmed that Tom Bradshaw will miss the next 10 weeks with a hamstring injury he picked up against Leyton Orient.
The Lions boss said: “Mihailo is a young player. He has been called into the Serbian squad. I think everyone needs to know he is not going to be available for eight weeks due to injury.
“Obviously, that’s tough for us – we have to deal with it. So the importance of Josh [Coburn] and Macaulay Langstaff – because Tom Bradshaw is going to be out for 10 weeks – is important to us.
“Mihailo is a young player that fits into the mould of what the club want to do – sign young players to develop and sell.
“I’m delighted to have Josh. Mihailo, we look forward to working with the longer-term, but he is a longer-term project.”
Asked about pairing Ivanovic with another new signing in Middlesbrough loanee Josh Coburn, Harris said: “Possibly. I would need to see Mihailo first to know if he can do that.
“I need to learn about him. He is a very young man. He has played in Serbia and I’ve not been to see him myself. He was a club signing so I need to learn about the player.”
