Newcastle United make HUGE donation to help AFC Wimbledon with Plough Lane flooding

Newcastle United have donated £15,000 to the JustGiving page set up by Wimbledon fans to help the club after flooding wrecked the pitch at Plough Lane and caused damage to the stadium.

The Premier League side’s donation took the total beyond the targeted £50k set by the page.

Former players Kasey McAteer, Jack Currie and Lee Brown have all donated to help the Dons.

Wimbledon have had their EFL Cup third round clash against the Magpies, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, rearranged for October 1 at St James’ Park.

The Dons have also postponed their League Two clash against Crewe.

Plans are being put in place for this upcoming Saturday’s game against Accrington Stanley.

Wimbledon groundshared with QPR at the start of the 2020-21 season while construction of Plough Lane was completed.
