Non-league midweek round-up: Bromley earn point at National League leaders Notts County
Bromley halted a run of four straight defeats as they drew 1-1 at National League leaders Notts County on Tuesday night.
Adam Chicksen put the home team into a 16th minute lead but Michael Cheek equalised, his first goal since the end of August, just before the hour mark.
Bromley are eighth, two points outside of the play-offs.
“We had some really good chances in the first half and we were probably gutted to go in 1-0 down,” said Ravens manager Andy Woodman. “We triggered the press at the right time and we were really dangerous all over the park.
“We’ve created a lot of chances against a Notts County team – not many teams have done that. Of course I’d have taken a point here, because not many teams will do.
“Tom Smith made some really big saves for us. I never doubt the group, but for some reason we have those moments that they doubt themselves.
“They are a good group. We’ve got to make sure we don’t get carried away – it’s a point and we’ve stopped the rot of the run of bad results. We’ve got to try and build on that.”
Welling United’s National League South play-off hopes were dealt a blow after a 5-1 loss at Dartford on Tuesday.
Ade Azeez scored the Wings goal in the 53rd minutes but Warren Feeney’s team were already 3-0 down at that stage.
Tooting & Mitcham were knocked out of the Surrey Cup after a 4-1 defeat to Chertsey Town on Tuesday.
Baye Ndiaye’s goal added a small sliver of respectability to the final scoreline.
The Terrors head to Walton & Hersham tomorrow.
Fisher had no midweek fixture but won on penalties in the FA Vase first round on Saturday after a 3-3 draw with AFC Stoneham. Their scorers were Jacob Katonia, Joseph Adewunmi and Cedric Nganga.
The Fish go to Canterbury City tomorrow.
