Northampton Town v Charlton Athletic team news: Chuks Aneke misses out with injury as Lee Bowyer makes five changes

BY LOUIS MENDEZ

Tuesday’s matchwinner Chuks Aneke is ruled out of Charlton’s trip to Northampton after suffering a groin injury.

Lee Bowyer makes a total of five changes from the side that won at Blackpool in midweek including handing a full debut to Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen and a first league start of the campaign for Jonny Williams.

Marcus Maddison has travelled as he makes his way back from an ankle injury and is amongst the substitutes.

Aneke is understood to have suffered a minor groin injury in the process of scoring a headed winner at Bloomfield Road so Omar Bogle keeps his place in the starting line-up.

Ben Purrington serves a one-match ban for his red card during the victory on the Fylde Coast, with Maatsen a straight swap at left-back.

Andrew Shinnie, Ben Watson and Darren Pratley all drop to the bench as Williams, Dylan Levitt and Jake Forster-Caskey come into the midfield.

Paul Smyth returns to partner Bogle up top, with Conor Washington also on the bench.

Charlton: Amos, Gunter, Famewo, Inniss, Maatsen, Forster-Caskey, Levitt, Williams, Doughty, Bogle, Smyth. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Shinnie, Washington, Pratley, Morgan, Maddison, Watson.
