Erith schoolboy motorcycle racer Casey O’Gorman must be thinking someone’s out to get him after being wiped out, yet again, in the second race of round three of the European Talent Cup in Jerez, Spain last weekend after securing a solid seventh place in the first race.

The 15 year old didn’t have the best of qualifying, struggling with the setup on his NSF250R Honda to end up 14th on the grid for the Sunday’s two races.

Unused to starting so far back, O’Gorman made a strong start moving into the top ten by the end of the first lap of 16.

Six laps in and the top four had made a small break from the chasing pack but O’Gorman had moved up to fifth and was trying his best to close the gap to the leaders.

By midrace it looked like the leaders had enough distance between them to be uncatchable but the pressure was on O’Gorman as he continued to fight for fifth in a six way battle, just slipping a couple of places to seventh by the chequered flag with Max Quiles taking the win.

Repeating his start from the earlier race O’Gorman stormed through the pack to slot into ninth place by the end of the first lap of the race two.

Any hope of fighting for the win went out of the window as the top five once again swiftly pulled a sizable gap on O’Gorman and the chasing riders.

With the leaders a long way up the road the fight was on for a top six finish but entering the final corner of the last lap, Jesus Rios attempted to dive up the inside of O’Gorman, losing control and crashing out, taking the hapless youngster with him in a carbon copy of two weeks earlier in Valencia.

Spaniard, Brian Uriarte took the win from reigning champ Guido Pini with Quiles in third.

Quiles leads the championship on 124 points with O’Gorman finally off the mark with nine points in 18th place.

Round four of the championship will take place at Algarve in Portugal on the 2nd July.

O’Gorman will be back in action this weekend at Mugello in Italy for round seven and eight of the Red Bull MototGP Rookies Cup.
