Oliver Glasner provides Adam Wharton and Eddie Nketiah Crystal Palace injury update

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has provided an update on Eddie Nketiah and Adam Wharton’s recovery from injury.

Forward Nketiah missed the 2-0 defeat to Fulham after picking up a hamstring injury following the 2-2 draw with Wolves.

Both Nketiah and Wharton will be absent for tomorrow’s Premier League trip to Villa Park.

Asked when Nketiah could return, Glasner said: “Let’s say [he will be available] during the week with three games against Newcastle, Ipswich and Manchester City.

“I hope he’s available. I don’t know if it will be the first one or if it will be for Ipswich or Manchester City. We hope he’s back.”

Midfielder Wharton underwent surgery on a groin problem he had been carrying all season.

The 20-year-old had been managing the issue but was forced off in Palace’s 1-0 EFL Cup win at Aston Villa on October 30.

The Eagles head to Villa on Saturday and then have three Premier League outings in the space of the week.

They host Newcastle on November 30 and then travel to relegation rivals Ipswich on the Tuesday night.

Palace end their week by welcoming champions Manchester City to Selhurst Park on December 7.

“The first week was tough, as it is after surgery and pain,” said Glasner.

“He improved a lot this week. He was starting to run and be outside on the pitch.

“It’s also positive that the pain is not where he had it before – it’s now more from the surgery.

“This is a positive when you can find positive things after surgery.

“Newcastle will be too early, but maybe the week after.”
