Outgoing Charlton goalkeeper looking to repay faith of Hibs boss for making summer move happen

Joe Wollacott is intent on paying back Lee Johnson for taking him to Hibernian.

The Ghana international made the move from Charlton to the Scottish club at the end of last week.

“Obviously he (Johnson) was the first-team manager at Bristol City, which is where I was a few years ago, so him signing me is a statement in itself, because it shows his trust and belief in me,” Wollacott told Hibernian TV.

“He played a massive part in my development at Bristol, so I want to repay that.”

Wollacott has signed a three-year contract with Hibs.

Johnson added: “We’re delighted to bring Jojo to the club and I’m looking forward to working with him again.

“He’s a player I’ve known for some time and it’s great to see that he’s starting to fulfil his potential. He now has over 100 games under his belt and has played on the international stage with Ghana.

“He’s an athletic, brave, and confident goalkeeper, and with big competitions coming up it’s important we’re strong in the goalkeeping department.”

Charlton made former Luton Town stopper Harry Isted their first signing of the summer transfer window, confirming he had signed a two-year deal on Saturday.
