Peckham Town cope with sending off to progress in London Senior Trophy tie against Croydon

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Peckham Town started their defence of the London Senior Trophy with a 3-0 home win over Croydon.

It was the Menace’s first action in six months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

And Mary Phillips’ side pulled off victory despite the early second-half dismissal of Joe Thomas.

All the goals came after that with David Gabor rifling them ahead before Marcus Black struck. A fast counter allowed Brian Villalba to round the keeper to make it 3-0.

Peckham will go to Bridon Ropes in the next round.

Phillips said: “We were a force to be reckoned with. you wouldn’t think that we were playing with a man down, and with nine, when Nicky [Meta] was sinbinned.”
