‘Phenomenal’ – Gareth Ainsworth delivers verdict on first win as QPR boss
QPR boss Gareth Ainsworth hailed his side’s effort levels as ‘phenomenal’ following Saturday’s 1-0 win at home to play-off hopefuls Watford.
Rangers secured their first win in 13 and their first win under Ainsworth thanks to Tim Iroegbunam’s first-half goal.
The win against Chris Wilder’s side moved QPR up to 19th in the Championship and 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
“I can’t thank the boys enough,” Ainsworth told QPR’s YouTube channel.
“Their efforts were phenomenal.
“They have set their standard – that’s one thing I will say.
“That was a brilliant performance by everyone – a real good and solid performance.
“I hope the fans saw the desire and the willingness to work and tackle and head anything – we really put it on Watford.
“We deserved it as well – I don’t think Seny Dieng has had a save to make.
“I thought we were superb in the first half.
“The boys were dead on their feet at the end of the game. I don’t want to pick individuals out – it was a team performance.
“We were solid at the back and superb up front. I’m really, really pleased for the boys today.”
