Here are Edmund Brack’s player ratings from Selhurst Park:
SAM JOHNSTONE – 6
Could do nothing about Liverpool’s equaliser.
Was not tested throughout the game but was forced off for Remi Matthews in the 87th minute.
Only completed 17 per cent of his passes.
JOEL WARD – 8
Vital interception to stop Mohamed Salah from setting up a three vs one situation on the counterattack.
Another important header away from danger at the back post in the 15th minute to stop Darwin Nunez from having a chance at goal.
Best performance in red and blue for a while – completing seven clearances, the most of any Palace player.
JOACHIM ANDERSEN – 7
Did well to shield the ball out of play in the 6th minute to stop Ryan Gravenberch from advancing into the area.
Went close at the end when he met a Michael Olise free-kick but forced a good save from Alisson.
MARC GUEHI – 7
Completed two tackles and made one interception.
Very solid throughout the contest.
NATHANIEL CLYNE – 8
Played a cross along the face of the box in the 37th minute, but there was no Palace player there to apply the finishing touch.
Excellent burst down the left-hand side in the 52nd minute to play through Jefferson Lerma for a chance.
A very good job as a makeshift left-back.
CHRIS RICHARDS – 7
A good challenge on Gravenberech to stop Liverpool from pressing forward in first-half stoppage time.
Booked for a foul on Cody Gakpo in the 70th minute.
Completed six clearances and won four of his four tackles.
JEFFERSON LERMA – 8
Forced a great save from Alisson Becker in the 27th minute when he met Jordan Ayew’s cross at the back post.
The ex-Bournemouth midfielder was absolutely everywhere in the first half.
Was subbed off during the second half due to injury.
JEFFREY SCHLUPP – 7
Won a clever free-kick in the 49th minute when he was fouled by Jarell Quansah.
WILL HUGHES – 7
Good slide tackle to stop Kostas Tsimikas early on.
Another important block to deny Dominik Szoboszlai when he took aim from the edge of the box.
Made four blocks – the most of any Palace player.
JORDAN AYEW – 7
Played a fantastic cross to Lerma, which saw the ex-Bournemouth midfielder force a great save from the Liverpool keeper.
Was sent off for a harsh second yellow card offence for a foul on Harvey Elliot in the 75th minute.
ODSONNE EDOUARD – 6
Won the penalty which was overturned by VAR.
However, the French forward picked up an injury at the end of the first half and was replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta at half-time.
SUBS:
JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA – 7
Won the penalty with some quick thinking to get ahead of Jarell Quansah and then converted the effort past Alisson.
Dispatched the effort well beyond Alisson.
Gave the team a real focal point during the second half.
MICHAEL OLISE – 5
Should have done better when played through by Schlupp in the 72nd minute. He was through on goal but was unable to get a shot off and was robbed by Ibrahima Konate.
Had to clear the danger for Liverpool’s equaliser – the ball bouncing off the former Reaidng youngster and falling to Curtis Jones to set up Salah.
REMI MATTHEWS – NA
Great palm away early on to get into the game.
Could do nothing about Elliot’s effort from distance to win the game.
A great achievement to make his Premier League debut at 29.
NAOUIROU AHAMADA – NA
Did nothing to really impact the game.
DAVID OZOH – NA
Came on in the 95th minute.
