Posh boss claims Clarke-Harris yet to agree personal terms with Charlton Athletic

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson says that Jonson Clarke-Harris is yet to agree personal terms with Charlton Athletic.

The Posh boss was speaking after his side’s 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Leeds United on Sunday.

Charlton agreed a fee with their fellow League One club for the 29-year-old striker at the back end of last week.

“A bid has been accepted by Charlton,” Ferguson told BBC Cambs Sport. “It’s up to the player now to agree personal terms and I don’t think we’re at that stage yet.”

Ferguson told the same media outlet ahead of the Leeds game that owner Darragh MacAnthony is only ready to sell Clarke-Harris and centre-back Ronnie Edwards, who has been linked with Crystal Palace and a host of other Premier League clubs, in this month of trading.

“We have a valuation on each individual player,” he said. “If a club meets that, we’ll let that player go and speak with them – try and arrange personal terms. That really is the simple equation.

“We’ve always maintained it has to be the figure the chairman sets, which is predominantly quite a high one – but for the right reason, because we have got real quality.

“The two obvious ones are Jonno, there has been a lot of interest and some bids in, and then you have got Ronnie. There is speculation about Ronnie all the time.

“The chairman has assured me those two are the only ones that are going to get sold in the January window.”
