‘Precautionary’ – AFC Wimbledon boss Jackson on absence of Brown, Woodyard & Nightingale in Woking draw

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has explained why Lee Brown, Will Nightingale and Alex Woodyard all missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw with National League side Woking.

The Dons played out their first draw of the pre-season campaign ahead of the 2023-24 League Two season, with Jackson naming a strong starting 11 that played over an hour at the Laithwaite Community Stadium.

Brown, Woodyard and Nightingale were all missing from the matchday squad.

“Browny was feeling his back a little bit, so we didn’t take a risk with him,” Jackson told the South London Press.

“Woody took a whack in the Met Police game. He was meant to stay on longer in that game but had to come off earlier.

“Will have been struggling. He has had a little whack on his knee, so it’s just been precautionary with those guys at the minute.”

The Dons take on Championship side QPR in their next pre-season test at Plough Lane next Saturday.
