QPR assistant boss asked about absence of Sheffield United-linked defender Jimmy Dunne
Dunne had started every Championship game this season prior to the trip to The Den.
He has been the subject of transfer speculation in recent days, with Sheffield United linked with a move for the 27-year-old.
When asked about Dunne’s absence, Calm said: “Jimmy Dunne had a small problem in the groin two days ago and in the end we have picked the players we had available for the game.”
Calm was standing in for Marti Cifuentes in South London, with the head coach forced to stay at home due to a bout of tonsilitis.
However, Cifuentes was able to communicate with the QPR bench throughout the game and he was involved in selecting Rangers’ starting line-up as they fell to a second consecutive defeat.
Calm explained: “No chance [for Cifuentes] to be here today. Hopefully for the next game he will be with us because he is an important part of the team. But as when a player is injured and the team has to cover, we have done it today with me.
“He tried [to be at the game] but the doctors suggested that the best way to do it is from home.”
