QPR boss Marti Cifuentes reacts to controversial Cedric Kipre handball in West Brom draw

Marti Cifuentes was left dumbfounded by the decision to not award his QPR side a second penalty in their 2-2 draw against West Brom.

Having already been awarded a spot-kick for a handball by Adam Reach, referee Geoff Eltringham failed to spot that Cedric Kipre pushed a Sam Field header away from his own goal-line.

Rangers went on to earn a point thanks to a late goal from Field, but Cifuentes was still unsure how Kipre was not penalised.

“I have been told that West Brom played with two keepers for a while,” he said.

“Football is a game with mistakes and unfortunately the refs can make mistakes. They have a difficult job, the second most difficult job after being a manager.

“I just feel sorry, because not only today, but also I remember [in] a crucial game against Sheffield Wednesday, the second goal is offside. So we are talking points here and points there.

“But I am not here to complain. I am here to make sure my team is better than that, so today if we have to play against two keepers then we have to play against two keepers.

“I thought their keeper made an amazing save but the real keeper, the first keeper. I was shown it after when I came in.

“We need to better than those margins. We created a lot of chances, and we could have scored more than the two goals.”
