Rowett won’t know yet whether Mason Bennett injury will keep him out for opener at QPR

BY ALEX GRACE
Millwall manager Gary Rowett fears Mason Bennett may have damage in his ankle following a challenge in Saturday afternoon’s 3-0 win at Ipswich.

Bennett, a second half substitute, was forced into an early exit by a challenge which the Lions boss said should have been a penalty.
Speaking after the game Rowett said,  “I thought it was a stonewall penalty, I’ve watched it back. The lad just clatters him as he gets a toe in there. It’s accidental, but it’s a penalty.”

The former Derby man will be assessed this week ahead of Saturday’s season opener against QPR.
Rowett added: “I think Mason just rolls his ankle at the same time so I would anticipate that that’s the only negative to today. Until it settles it’s hard to say but I would imagine there is a little bit of damage in there so we will find out soon.”
