Roy Hodgson makes Turf Moor prediction after Crystal Palace beat Burnley 2-0

Roy Hodgson does not believe that many clubs will come away from Turf Moor with three points this season after Crystal Palace beat Burnley 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles took the lead in the 22nd minute when Jordan Ayew robbed the ball off Jordan Beyer to cross along the face of goal for Jeffrey Schlupp to score.

Tyrick Mitchell doubled Palace’s lead in second-half stoppage time when Eberechi Eze received the ball on the edge of the box and played through the left-back to score his second goal for the club.

The South Londoners ended a run of back-to-back defeats to move up to 10th in the Premier League.

Burnley are winless at home this season under Vincent Kompany – they’re the first team in the Premier League to lose six consecutive losses at the start of the season.

“It was a tough game – Burnley were good,”

“We thought they would be. We have been watching them for our preparations – we’re not surprised by the quality of their play.

“They defended extremely well and they prevented us from taking as much benefit from our winning of the ball back.

“But the good thing is that even during that period, we kept our shape and kept working hard.

“We had some problems with players either injured or feeling the need to come off, so it forced more changes than perhaps we were anticipating.

“There aren’t going to be that many teams that come here and get away with the three points, I can tell you that now, not if Burnley keep playing the way that they’re playing.

“We have to be delighted in our discipline, determination and efforts to get us the three points.

“We go back to London happy. I’m sure Burnley will feel aggrieved that we didn’t get more from their performance today. If they keep playing like that, then they will.”
