R’s boss Warburton blames fatigue for lack of scoring chances

Mark Warburton has put Queens Park Rangers’ struggle to create chances down to fatigue – with the west Londoners drawing another blank against Stoke City on Tuesday night.
The R’s have scored just twice in five matches this month and are without a win since a 3-2 victory against Rotherham on November 24.
The goalless draw against the Potters left them 19th in the Championship, although it was their first clean sheet in nine outings.
Boss Warburton feels a congested fixture list – which will see them play nine matches in 28 days – is the reason for their lack of goals.
The 58-year-old said: “I’ve heard from a few other media channels ‘not enough chances being created,’ but you’re going to get that in a lot of games. It’s a result of the fatigue of all the teams and all the players.
“It’s not an excuse, far from it. It’s the same for every team but you’re hearing it more and more and more.
“You have to work so hard to create the chances. Defences are so solid and resolute. The fatigue does kick in. We’re placing demands on the players but you’re really seeing it now with the injuries and people going off.
“You have to make the changes because players are struggling. It’s a result of the schedule. We have to make sure that we manage it the best way we can.”
QPR head to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.
