‘So proud’ – Johnnie Jackson reacts after Chelsea come from behind to knock AFC Wimbledon out of the EFL Cup
AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson admitted he was “so proud” that his side went toe to toe with Premier League side Chelsea as they suffered a 2-1 second round defeat.
The Dons took the lead when Harry Pell was clattered inside the area by Robert Sanchez and referee Tony Harrington pointed to the penalty spot.
James Tilley converted the spot kick beyond the former Brighton keeper to send the Wimbledon fans in the Shed End into raptures.

Chelsea were awarded a penalty of their own before half-time, with Alex Pearce bringing down Noni Madeueke after he skipped into the box.
The England U21 international converted from 12 yards to bring the west Londoners level.
Chelsea took the lead in the 72nd minute when Alex Bass cleared the ball into Ian Maatsen, which cannoned into the path of Enzo Fernandez to fire into the net.
“I’m so proud of my players and my team,” said Jackson.

“We pushed them all the way and gave them a proper game. We had been saying all week in the build-up that we weren’t just coming for the day out and the experience – we wanted to come and give them a proper game and go toe to toe with them.
“We have done that. We haven’t disappointed on that. I’m just a bit gutted we haven’t taken them all the way and gone to pens.
“I have to be proud of everyone.”
