Exclusive: Southend United to sign Charlton defender Harry Lennon

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Southend United are signing Charlton Athletic defender Harry Lennon.

The South London Press understands that the deal is at an advanced stage.

The 23-year-old Romford-born stopper has been the subject of transfer interest from other clubs in past windows but the Shrimpers look set to finally end his stay in SE7.

We revealed last week that Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet is determined to drive down costs as takeover talks continue with the consortium fronted by Australian businessman Andrew Muir.

Ezri Konsa was sold to Brentford last week – with the £3million deal loaded heavily on an up front payment.

  • I have supported Charlton since 1956 when I was 7.

I am considering getting my money back on my season tcket.

I know players come and go but this is ridiculous. All going none coming in.

I will not sit through a farce lie that at the Valley. I may go to the 10 – 11 away games just to go elsewhere.

I am very nearly at that point.
