Southend United v Charlton Athletic team news: Ricky Holmes and Ahmed Kashi start for the Addicks
Karl Robinson is boosted by the returns of Ricky Holmes and Ahmed Kashi to his starting line-up for the Boxing Day clash at Southend – but Mark Marshall is injured.
Holmes had missed the last two games with a quad injury but comes straight into the eleven for today’s visit to Essex, with Kashi making his first start since a 2-2 draw with Peterborough United at the end of November.
Marshall has suffered a minor hamstring injury and misses out, along with Leon Best who was forced off last time out.
Karlan-Ahearne Grant also starts, with player-coach Johnnie Jackson returning to the bench after playing ninety minutes against Blackpool on Saturday.
The Addicks only name six of a possible seven substitutes.
Charlton: Amos, Dijksteel, Konsa, Sarr, Dasilva, Aribo, Kashi, Holmes, Reeves, Ahearne-Grant, Magennis. Subs: Phillips, Lennon, Jackson, Lapslie, Dodoo, Hackett-Fairchild.
