Surrey call on members and supporters to pack out Oval for County Championship fixture on June 30

Surrey are calling on members and supporters to pack out The Kia Oval for day one of the County Championship Division One clash between Surrey and Essex on Sunday June 30.

Surrey have seen large crowds for the first four County Championship fixtures at their home ground with more than 34,000 fans attending across the games. The first fixture of the season saw over 10,500 fans come to watch Surrey take on Somerset – a record attendance in recent years.

Fans who visit The Kia Oval have been treated to some of the best quality domestic red-ball cricket with the team flying high at the top of the table and a side including internationals Ollie Pope, Kemar Roach and Sean Abbott led by skipper Rory Burns.

Spectators also get access to the hallowed turf during lunch and tea breaks where hundreds of fans can inspect the playing wicket, bring a bat and ball on to play their own game or have a picnic on the outfield.

All Surrey Members will receive an additional four guest vouchers for the day for the June 30 fixture to bring their friends and family along and showcase the red-ball game. Essex Members will be able to purchase tickets with a 50 per cent discount and will receive an email from Essex detailing how they can access the offer.

Surrey will also be hosting a beer festival at the ground with a wide range of real ales as well as Brixton Brewery setting up a container bar serving a selection of Brixton beers.

Brewers will be on hand to talk drinkers through their beers as well as some exciting giveaways. Further details will be announced in the coming weeks.

Steve Elworthy, Surrey chief executive, said: “We’re calling on all Surrey Members and supporters to come down to the Kia Oval to watch us take on Essex and show your support for the red ball game. Red ball cricket has always been a priority for the club and we’re incredibly proud of the fantastic team that have achieved extraordinary success in recent years.

“The County Championship is the best domestic red ball competition in the world and we want to take this opportunity to showcase it to cricket fans old and new.”
