Tetteh: I will derail Daniel Dubois
Ebenezer Tetteh reckons he will make Daniel Dubois pay for looking beyond their September 27 meeting at the Royal Albert Hall.
Greenwich’s Dubois underlined why he is seen as a future heavyweight world champion when he knocked out Nathan Gorman in July to win the vacant British title.
Now the 22-year-old is aiming to add the Commonwealth crown to his collection. It has also become vacant as Joe Joyce steps up his pursuit of a world title shot.
Dubois’ meeting with Tetteh pits two fighters with big knockout percentages against each other. The South Londoner has won 11 of his 12 bouts inside the distance.
Ghanaian Tetteh is 19-0 with 16 of those victories inside the distance.
Dubois halted his fellow countryman Richard Lartey in a wild shootout in April.
“I am going to England to get revenge for my countryman Richard Lartey,” said Tetteh. “Richard gave Daniel hell but couldn’t get the job done – I will finish what Richard Lartey started.
“Daniel is speaking a lot about fights with David Price or Dereck Chisora. He is definitely overlooking me. It reminds me of when Anthony Joshua was going into the fight with Andy Ruiz and kept talking about fighting Wilder and Fury. He got punished for overlooking his opponent and I will punish Daniel Dubois.”
Sunny Edwards notched up victory number 13 as he won a wide unanimous points decision over Rosendo Hugo Guarneros to claim two vacant belts on Saturday night.
The 23-year-old from Croydon had been campaigning at super-flyweight but dropped a division to pick up the IBF international belt as well as the WBO inter-continental strap.
The unbeaten South Londoner hurt the knuckles on his right hand after landing a punch in the latter stages of the contest at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.
Edwards said: “I wish my hand didn’t go in the seventh or eighth round because I was starting to turn the screw.
“Then it was about being safe off the jab and bringing the belts home. It shouldn’t keep me out for any time at all.”
Streatham super-bantamweight Chris Bourke did won 60-54 against Jose Hernandez on the same show.
